Yesterday I was pretty testy. Last night I got a solid eight and half hours of sleep and woke up around 9am feeling good and refreshed. I came downstairs to have my coffee and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Can’t complain about that, right?

Mike decided that we were going to go bike shopping today. We rounded everyone up, got dressed and ready to roll. We arrived at Wheel and Sprocket around 11 am only to find out they don’t open until 12. Damn. We came home. Mike started testing out how he would put our bikes on the bike rack and got that all situated while we waited.

Around 12:30 pm we headed back to the store. After looking around very briefly we found my bike. Here’s what we bought:

That is a Trek Skye WSD 26 (plus some other numbers and letters that mean something but I don’t remember those). He bought that for me. We hope to do some biking together as a family this summer. I hope I have a place in the garage so I can just jump on it and go this summer. We’ll see what happens. Here’s a picture of it in the house:

Swanky, isn’t it? Thanks babe!  (Like he’ll ever read this)

He was talking about getting a trainer for the basement so I could ride it down there and work out. I’m especially excited for that possibility. I hope we figure out where we’re going to store it during the summer time so I don’t have to lug it up and down the basement stairs every time I want to use it. Again, we’ll see what happens.

After we dropped it off, we headed to lunch and had a family meal together. We rarely go out to lunch together because it’s usually a big ordeal with no one deciding what’s good enough. Somehow it all worked out today. Everyone mentioned Red Robin, we just so happened to have $40 in gift cards to use there, and so we went. $75 bill later… Oy vey! Mike’s burger and small amount of fries (a tiny little tin cup worth) was $13.99! The burger itself was on a ciabatta roll to give you an idea of how not-large it was. I had fish fry and I could have eaten more when I left. Needless to say, we’re probably not going back there unless it’s a special occasion. Way too pricey and the food is just OK. I mean, it was good, but not $75 good.

Afterward we went on the hunt for a basketball hoop for Mikhail. We went to three different stores and finally found a 44″ hoop at Walmart on clearance for $99. We somewhat got it in to the car and brought it home.

Once we were all home and situated, Mike started putting everything away. The basketball hoop and my bike went to the basement. I went through Mikhail’s backpack and found a note saying Mikhail did not need conferences at this time but I requested that she “eventually” call or email me to tell me his progress “at her convenience” so I could find out how he’s doing still. Just because he’s doing good doesn’t mean that I don’t want to hear about it. I mean conferences aren’t always just about the bad, right? I allowed Nick to go on the Xbox while Mikhail and I went and got his bath situated. Mike took all his computer stuff and set it back up in the basement and he went online for a while. Nick jumped in the shower later and Mikhail took his place on the Xbox for a while.

Overall it was a great day. We spent time together as a family. We had a few hiccups with Nick saying we never buy anything for him, blah blah. I explained we bought things of fitness today. I got a bike to help me exercise. Mikhail got a basketball hoop, which Nick could use too, to help them exercise and stay active. Nick wanted to look at cards of some sort… basketball or baseball cards. I think he thought there’d be movie or Walking Dead or other cards there. That’s when he got upset that we only buy stuff for Mikhail. Does this happen normally in families? The oldest thinks the baby gets everything? I know that’s how it was for my family. Maybe tomorrow I’ll ask him, “Ok, Nick. If there is something that you’d get if we bought it for you, what would it be?” and see what his answer would be. Maybe if it’s something he can actually use and isn’t going ot make him just lay like a lump on a log I’ll consider it.

So that was our weekend. Nothing to really complain about. Talk to you later.
