Nick started Concerta again yesterday. He was on it for four years before we found out he had PVCs and had to stop it. Our miracle drug, just stopped completely. This past year with out it has been grueling. We have had a lot of ups and downs and nothing seemed to help. He tried a few different ADD/ADHD medications but nothing worked like Concerta.

Well, last week we got word from the cardiologist that we have RARE PVCs! In fact, he had a total of 87 PVCs in a 24 hour time span. That’s a huge improvement from the 42,000 and 17,000 that he had before stopping the Concerta.

Now, we’re back on Concerta and so far so good. He has noticed that his appetite is less and he’s not constantly eating the ENTIRE day away. He also noticed that he was more focused in math class while his teacher was describing a game and he wasn’t just starring blankly at the teacher but actually paying attention! Things have some promise to them. The only thing I’ve noticed so far is the emotional side of things are back. He’s very emotional again. He cried at practically everything I said today. Is this something that’s going to be problematic? I don’t know yet. It is something I’m going to keep an eye on.

We have two weeks at the dosage we’re at now and then the determination of whether or not we’ll be increasing to 54 mg or staying at 36 mg. He may only need 36 mg. These weeks will tell.

I pray that things are alright and things go back to how they used to be. Everyone needs to stay calm. I really need to stay calm.
